Wow! What an amazing weekend, what a venue, so much potential for this ground to hold some big competitions.
Anyway my competition started with being partnered with Gareth Clarke and Daz Ford, two absolute gentleman.
I was shooting 2nd in the group, and my first lane started with me having to call a target for only the 3rd time in my FT career, which turned out was a faulty target so I’m 3 for 3 on called targets 🤣 anyway glad I did as finished on a 47, which was leading A grade on day one, and only two shots off overall lead. To say I was a bit full of myself was an understatement 🤣
On to day two, and feeling the nerves a bit, managed to shoot a 46, which was good enough to take A grade, and put me in a shoot off with Dave O’Hara for 7th place, which he flattened a 48 yard stander twice, sometimes you just have to take your hat off and acknowledge incredible shooting under pressure.
In the end finished 8th overall and won A grade, so absolutely over the moon, and was pretty unbearable for the journey home 🤦♂️
Must say a massive thank you to Carisbrooke air rifle and pistol club for hosting, great weekend with my SEFTA buddies, and also a massive congratulations to Dan the man Eley on taking the overall title of British open champion, and shooting absolutely incredible all weekend 👍.
